Consent & Expectations
Safeguarding, Consent & Your Treatment
This Safeguarding and Consent statement applies to all treatments and all practitioners at The Wellness Hub, Unit 5, Old Stable House, Rear of 53–55 North Cross Road, London SE22 9ET.
It covers every appointment you attend with us, from your first assessment through to any follow‑up sessions, and is normally reviewed every six months.
Treatments this consent covers
Your treatment plan is tailored to you and may include one or more of the following:
-
Physiotherapy
-
Sports massage
-
Deep tissue massage
-
Therapeutic massage
-
Head, neck and shoulder massage
-
Hot stone massage
-
Cupping
-
Acupuncture
Your practitioner will explain what is recommended for you and will ask for your verbal consent throughout your sessions.
Comfort, choice and stopping treatment
Some techniques can feel uncomfortable at times. The intensity can always be adjusted.
-
You can ask to change the pressure or technique at any time.
-
You can ask to pause or stop treatment at any time, without giving a reason.
-
You can decline any particular type of treatment, either before we start or during the session.
Your feedback helps us keep you safe and comfortable.
Clothing, draping and protected areas
To deliver treatment safely and effectively, we may need access to different areas of the body that are relevant to your condition. We always work within clear professional boundaries:
-
Areas of the body that are not being treated will be covered and kept warm.
-
Genitals and any contraindicated areas are never treated and remain covered at all times.
-
Female clients should wear sports shorts and a sports bra for all treatments.
-
If a female client wishes to remove her sports bra for work on the back only (for deep tissue massage, hot stone massage or cupping), this must be explicitly requested by the client. Signing and agreeing to this consent indicates your express permission for removal of upper‑body clothing in this specific context.
-
Male clients should wear sports shorts.
If at any point you feel uncomfortable with positioning, clothing or draping, please tell your therapist immediately and we will adjust or stop.
Risks, benefits and limits of treatment
Every person responds differently to treatment. While many people experience benefit, it is important to understand:
-
No treatment can be guaranteed to work for every individual.
-
Symptoms may temporarily worsen or feel sore after treatment, especially in the short term.
-
There is always some level of risk with any physical or needling‑based treatment, although we work to minimise this.
We reduce risk by:
-
Taking a detailed health history and asking about your general health and medications.
-
Screening for “red flag” symptoms and contraindications.
-
Checking in with you during treatment and adjusting as needed.
Your health information and responsibilities
Safe treatment depends on accurate information. By agreeing to this consent, you confirm that:
-
The health information you provide (including any questionnaires) is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge.
-
You will tell your practitioner about any medical conditions, surgeries, injuries, medications, allergies (including latex) or changes in your health.
-
You will let us know if you are, or may be, pregnant, or have given birth in the last six months.
If you are unsure whether something is relevant, please tell us so we can advise.
How long your consent lasts
Unless you tell us otherwise:
-
This consent normally covers your initial appointment and any follow‑up sessions for a period of six months from the date you first agree to it.
-
We may ask you to review and renew your consent after this period or if your health status changes.
-
You can withdraw your consent to any part of treatment, or to all treatment, at any time.
Withdrawing consent will not affect your right to future care, but it may limit what treatments we can safely provide.
Use of your personal and sensitive data
As part of your care, we collect and store personal and health information.
By agreeing to this consent, you:
-
Explicitly consent to the processing of your personal and sensitive data (including health information) that you provide on our forms and during your interactions with practitioners.
-
Understand that this information is used to plan and deliver safe, appropriate treatment and to meet legal and professional requirements.
-
Understand that your information is handled in line with our clinic policies and applicable data protection law.
If you have any questions about how your data is used or stored, please ask a member of the team.
